About 10 miles inland to the North of Rosslyn Bay and Yeppoon is a small wildlife sanctuary named Cooberrie Park, which is operated by a husband-wife team. Here one can hand feed Kangaroos and Wallabies and even hold and pet a live but tame Koala Bear. Quite fun really. She was quite friendly, with soft fur and fuzzy ears, but those big sharp claws they use for tree climbing could make a real mess of you if you tried to pet a wild one.
They also have numerous types of birdlife, a crocodile (of course), snakes, and even a dingo.
Yep, that's me (beardless) holding their favorite Koala.
